Movie: The Final Countdown

This unique 1980 film stars Kirk Douglas, Martin Sheen, and Charles Durning in the story of a modern aircraft carrier that is thrown back in time to December 1941, just before the attack on Pearl Harbor. One interesting EAA connection is actor James Coleman, portraying Lt. Perry in the film, a renowned aviation photographer and writer who has attended EAA AirVenture Oshkosh numerous times. Movie starts at 5:30pm. Free for EAA members, $5 for nonmembers.

EAA Skiplane Fly-In at Pioneer Airport
Oshkosh (KOSH), Wisconsin
This annual event at the museums Pioneer Airport highlights the unique segment of flight that is quite popular throughout many parts of North America. This event is another outstanding way that EAA welcomes pilots and enthusiasts of all ages to enjoy The Spirit of Aviation. The skiplane fly-in is free to the public 10am-1:30pm, but regular museum admission rates apply for those who wish to visit the museum. Signs will direct visitors to the Pioneer Airport area upon arrival to the museum. Shuttle services will also operate from Basler Flight Service for those flying in and landing at Wittman Regional Airport. The Battle of Midway, with Dick Campbell

The Aviation Adventure Speaker Series at the EAA Aviation Museum beginning at 7pm welcomes educator and historian Dick Campbell, who will explain the background and events of the 1942 Battle of Midway in the Pacific, This decisive battle is one that played a major role in turning momentum in the Pacific Theater in favor of the U.S. Admission is free for EAA members, $5 for nonmembers.
