CARBONDALE, ILL. – American Airlines flew some 120 students from Chicago area high schools on April 28, 2018 to Carbondale, Illinois in an MD-82 to visit the Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) aviation campus. The students expressed an interest in pursuing an aviation career. In addition to the students, volunteers from American Airlines – many who are alumni of SIUC Aviation – accompanied the students. Once on the campus, SIUC faculty were able to fly 106 of the students in one of their Cessna flight training aircraft.
