Jeff Colyer, the soon-to-be-Governor of Kansas, has accepted an invitation from the Wichita Aero Club to address its members at a luncheon on Tuesday, November 7 at the Crestview Country Club in Wichita, it was announced today. The luncheon will begin at 11:45 a.m. and end at 1:30 p.m. Reservations can be made online by filling out the form below, by calling 316-641-5962, or by emailing info@wichitaaeroclub.org. “We greatly appreciate Lt. Governor Colyer taking the time from his busy schedule to meet with the Aero Club and address the state’s aviation infrastructure and issues that relate to one of the state’s most vibrant industries,” said WACPresident Dave Franson. In aggregate, airports, aviation manufacturing and airport/aviation jobs account for $20.6 billion in Kansas economic activity and we’re constantly looking at ways to grow that number, add more jobs and continue our leadership. Lieutenant Governor Colyer joined the Wichita contingent at NBAA several years ago and we know he’s familiar with the important role Kansas plays in the nation’s aerospace industry so we’re pleased that he has placed a priority on addressing it as he prepares to move into the governor’s office.”

Lieutenant Governor Colyer is a fifth-generation Kansan from Hays and a craniofacial/plastic surgeon in addition to a public servant. He was elected to the Kansas House of Representatives in 2006 and the Kansas Senate in 2008.

Dr. Colyer led the Kansas Medicaid transformation, which saved Kansans over a billion dollars. He also served as a White House Fellow for international affairs under Presidents Ronald Reagan and President George H.W. Bush. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Georgetown University, a master’s degree in international relations from Cambridge University. He earned his medical doctorate from the University of Kansas, School of Medicine.

Upon Governor Sam Brownback’s confirmation as Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom, Mr. Colyer will become the state’s 47th Chief Executive.

The Wichita Aero Club is now accepting reservations for the luncheon. The luncheon will be held in the Tapestry Room at Crestview Country Club, 1000 North 127th Street East in Wichita, Kansas.
