News From AOPA Summit!

LONG BEACH, CALIF. – If you are not one of the more than 10,000 pilots expected to attend the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association (AOPA) Summit at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, California, November 11-13, 2010, you can see many of the highlights via the internet on AOPA LIVE (http://www.aopa.org/aopalive).

Among the special guests to be interviewed by AOPA President/CEO Craig Fuller will be Rod Hightower of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). This will be Hightower’s first official appearance at the AOPA Summit since being named EAA President and CEO. Accompanying Hightower will be EAA Chairman Tom Poberezny.

Hightower and Poberezny will be featured on AOPA LIVE on Friday, November 12, at 11:05 a.m. PST.

EAA will also be active before and during the Summit as David Oord, EAA Government and Advocacy Specialist, will serve as moderator for a panel discussion, “The Sport Pilot Solution: Is It Right For You?” scheduled for 3:30-4:30 p.m. on November 11. Panelists will include Dan Johnson, President, Light Aircraft Manufacturers Association (LAMA); Tom Gunnarson, Transportation Industry Analyst – Light Sport Program, FAA Small Airplane Directorate; Carol Carpenter, co-owner of Rainbow Aviation Services and a contributing editor to Midwest Flyer Magazine; and Jill W. Tallman, associate editor, AOPA Publications and an active sport pilot.

Other industry leaders to appear on AOPA LIVE will include the executive producer of “The Aviators” television program, Anthony Nalli… the director of Surveillance and Broadcast Services with the FAA, Vincent Capezzuto, who will talk about ADS-B… 2010 T-6 Reno National Champion, Dennis Buehm… renowned air show performers Sean D. Tucker and Patty Wagstaff… Cessna CEO Jack Pelton… SpaceShipOne pilot Mike Melvill….
