Pilots Association To Raffle Off Airplane To Raise Money For Future Aviators

AKRON, OHIO – The East Central Ohio Pilots Association (ECOPA) is holding its annual airplane raffle, the largest annual fundraiser for their Education and Safety Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit that provides training scholarships to future pilots. Raffle tickets went on sale April 17 with the grand prize ticket winning a 1972 Grumman (American Aviation) AA5 Traveler airplane.

“Not only are you getting a chance to win a pristine aircraft, but your donation is extremely important to furthering our ambitions to expand our annual scholarship and safety and education outreach programs,” said Ron Becker, ECOPA fundraiser committee chair. “Since our scholarship program began in 2013, we have changed the lives of over 40 recipients. During this same timeframe, our Education and Safety Outreach Programs have educated over 1,000 pilots.”

ECOPA launched its first airplane raffle fundraiser in 2020. The initial raffle was so successful, the organization sought to continue with another plane raffle in 2021. They are on track to sell out of tickets before the drawing. The raffle is limited to 4,000 tickets.

Raffle tickets are being sold exclusively online at www.ecopapilot.com and participants will be entered to win one of five prizes including the grand prize Grumman AA5 Traveler plane, $2,500 flight school scholarship, Bose A320 headset with Bluetooth, 11-inch iPad and Stratus 3 ADS-B Receiver, and PJ2 Handheld COM Radio. Raffle tickets are $75 or three tickets for $195.
