PEOPLE IN THE NEWS: Waupaca Airport Management Team Receives People of the Year Award At 69th Annual Wisconsin Aviation Conference

Posted on November 26, 2025November 27, 2025 by mwflyer

Mathew and Britney Klatt, co-managers of Waupaca Municipal Airport in Waupaca, Wis. (KPCZ), were named “People of the Year” by the Wisconsin Airport Management Association (WAMA). The award was presented during the 69th Annual Wisconsin Aviation Conference (WAC 69), October 21, 2025, at the La Crosse Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

For the past three years, the Klatts have guided a remarkable transformation of the facility. Once a quiet airport with limited activity, KPCZ now sells more than 50,000 gallons of 100LL annually and hosts regular events such as fly-ins, pancake breakfasts, trivia nights, and movie screenings. Their leadership has established the airport as a dynamic aviation hub and a valued community destination.

In addition to airport management, Mat Klatt contributes significant expertise as an aircraft technician with inspection authorization and has a strong background in aircraft restoration. Mat and Britney Klatt exemplify excellence in airport management, technical skill, and safety advocacy. Their efforts make Waupaca Municipal Airport a model for innovation, engagement, and growth in general aviation.

WAC is the only statewide aviation conference in Wisconsin and serves as a vital platform for airport managers, FBOs, pilots, consultants, government agencies, and aviation enthusiasts to connect, collaborate, explore aviation topics, and discuss industry issues. The conference is held in different parts of the state each fall (wiama.org).
