The Minnesota Pilots Association (MNPA) is accepting applications for its 2027 aviation scholarship program, offering five scholarships of $3,000 each to support aspiring pilots and aviation maintenance professionals.
Scholarships are available to Minnesota pilots pursuing advanced ratings or certificates, including instrument, commercial, and flight instructor ratings.
The scholarships include the Captain Edward L. Erickson Aviation Scholarship, Janette Strathy Aviation Scholarship, and the new John Mohr Aviation Scholarship. A single application covers consideration for all three awards.
Additionally, two $3,000 scholarships will be awarded to students enrolled in recognized aviation maintenance technology or avionics technology programs. These awards recognize the importance of developing skilled technicians to support the future of aviation.
Pilot applicants must be Minnesota residents, hold at least an FAA Private Pilot Certificate, and plan to use the award toward an additional rating or certificate. Maintenance and avionics applicants must be enrolled in, or have applied to, a recognized training program. Both applicant groups must submit a letter of recommendation and a 500-word-or-less statement explaining why they deserve the scholarship and how they would use the funds.
Applications are due April 1, 2027. For complete eligibility requirements and application information, visit the Minnesota Pilots Association website at mnpilots.org/scholarships.
