Carlson Aviation, Yankton, South Dakota… A Place Pilots Can Call Home Away From Home!

Posted on June 10, 2011 by mwflyer
YANKTON, S.D. – Carlson Aviation in Yankton, South Dakota (YKN) is reported to be a great stop-over location for reasonable fuel prices and pilot comforts. The fixed base operation is ran by the Carlson family, who really try to accommodate pilots.

“This is one of the dream FBOs with a place to rest, car to use, spotless building, comfy couches and leather EZ Boys, coffee on all the time and even “mom” Carlson showing (pilots) where she’s got the food stashed for wayward pilots,” said John Justad, owner of Lake Country Air Service, LLC in Hackensack, Minnesota. “Lots of people have turned YNK into part of their EAA AirVenture Oshkosh experience, staying a few days on the way to or from OSH to connect with friends.”

Justad continues: “In an era of so many FBOs going by the wayside, this one really stands out of all those I’ve been to over the years. I thought places like this had ceased to exist. Everything about it smacks of ‘We are SO glad you are here. What can we do to help you?'”
