New Director At Springfield-Branson National Airport

SPRINGFIELD, MO. – The multimodal director for the Missouri Department of Transportation, Brian Weiler, 45, has replaced Springfield-Branson National Airport director of aviation, Gary Cyr, who retired April 1.

Weiler has been with MoDOT for 15 years, and was responsible for state government involvement in aviation, rail, waterways, transit and freight development. Prior to that, Weiler was the director of aviation for the Johnson County Airport Commission in Johnson County, Kansas, and managed airports for the City of St. Joseph and Martin County, Fla., in the 1990s.

Weiler once served in the U.S. Marine Corp as an air traffic controller. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a master’s degree in Aviation Safety from the University of Central Missouri.

Weiler has been an adjunct instructor at the University of Central Missouri since 1992, and holds a private pilot’s license.
