APPLETON, WIS. – Outagamie County Regional Airport (ATW) broke ground in August 2012 for a new, state-of-the-art, 8,000 square foot general aviation terminal, called Platinum Flight Center. The terminal will feature a two-story atrium lobby, flight-planning room, pilot center, and passenger lounge. Platinum Flight Center offers maintenance, airline and general aviation fueling, charter services, and pilot training.
The design of the new terminal includes traditional sustainability measures. The building’s social sustainability was also taken into consideration, making it a healthy and welcoming environment for employees and visitors alike.
The new terminal will have the following features:
• Energy efficient mechanical system with heat recovery and air conditioning.
• Rain water harvesting through roof scuppers and cisterns.
• Durable, low VOC interior finishes.
• High ceilings that harvest natural light, and direct/indirect light fixtures featuring LED technology and occupancy sensors.
• Natural ventilation through operable windows.
• Geothermal and photovoltaic technology.
