Black Aviators Recognized

Posted on October 31, 2017 by mwflyer

In Madison Overture Center Exhibit

We have all heard of Amelia Earhart, but have you ever heard of Bessie Coleman? She, too, was a famous woman aviator who, in 1921, had to go to France to get her pilot’s certificate because she was black. Join Al Whitaker, pilot and son of a Tuskegee Airman, at his photo display and reception on Black Aviators at the Overture Center in Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 6:00 pm. The movie, “The Flying Ace,” will also be shown. Thanks, Al Whitaker, for a great display about these important aviators.
