The founder of General Aviation News, Dave Sclair, died July 26, 2011, of a malignant brain tumor. He was diagnosed just months previously. His son, Ben, and Dave’s wife and business partner, Mary Lou, were at his bedside when he died.
Fellow aviation publisher, Dave Weiman of Midwest Flyer Magazine, commented: “The entire GA community will miss Dave Sclair’s advocacy for aviation. He was highly regarded and a good friend.”
Sclair was an authority of residential air parks, and wrote a well-respected publication on the subject called “Living With Your Plane.”
