The Italian Air Force Frecce Tricolori aerobatic display team performed a flyover at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, July 23, 2024, as part of its North American Tour. The team was flying the Aermacchi MB-339-A/PAN, a two-seat fighter-trainer capable of 898 km/h (485 kts) at sea level. In a ceremony at Istrana Air Base in northeastern Italy on September 12, 2024, which marked the return of the team from its North American tour, the team’s future aircraft — the Leonardo M-346 advanced jet trainer — was unveiled. The Tricolour Arrows replaced unofficial teams that had been sponsored by various commands starting in the early 1930s. The word “frecce” means “arrow” in Italian.
