After a decade of leadership at Lakeland Linder International Airport (LAL), Airport Director Kris Hallstrand is moving into a new role with the SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Center for Excellence (ACE), while Assistant Airport Director Adam Lunn has been named interim airport director.
Hallstrand, who served six years as assistant director before leading the airport for the past four years, announced she is joining SUN ‘n FUN and ACE as executive director of operations. The move marks the next chapter in a 30-year aviation career and follows years of overseeing one of the nation’s premier aviation events from the airport perspective. In her new role, Hallstrand will help lead operations for the annual SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo while supporting the organization’s year-round STEM education mission.
To ensure continuity at one of the country’s fastest-growing airports, Lakeland City Manager Shawn Sherrouse appointed Lunn as interim airport director. Lunn joined Lakeland Linder in 2011 and has served as assistant airport director since 2021, playing a key role in the airport’s financial and operational management.
Sherrouse praised Lunn’s leadership and noted the city will evaluate the potential for a permanent appointment. Lunn said he is honored by the opportunity and remains committed to building on the airport’s momentum while maintaining safe, reliable service for tenants, users, and the flying public.
The leadership transition comes as Lakeland Linder continues to expand its role as a major aviation hub and home to the internationally recognized SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo, positioning both Hallstrand and Lunn to continue shaping aviation in Central Florida from complementary leadership roles.
