MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – Sun Country Airlines will host a one-day trip to the Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Museum at Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, April 28, 2012, for $269.00 round trip. The flight departs Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) at 6:30 am and returns at 9:10 pm. The trip includes round trip airfare and bus transportation from the terminal at Dulles to the museum, and a free museum pass. A special feature to this year’s trip will be the Space Shuttle “Discovery,” and the only on-duty survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor, a WWII U.S. Navy Sikorsky JRS-1 amphibian aircraft, amongst dozens of other aircraft and memorabilia, including Bob Hoover’s Shrike Commander, and the “Enola Gay” B-29 bomber.
“Discovery” is the space shuttle that took U.S. Senator John Glenn back to space in 1998. The commander of that flight, Curtis Brown, is now a Sun Country pilot and will be one of the pilots flying the Boeing 737 on this charter flight to Dulles.
For reservations, call Sun Country Airlines at 800-359-6786 or 651-905-2737.
Organizing the trip is former military pilot, Malcolm “Spook” Johns of Minneapolis, who has organized several similar museum flights in the past to Udvar-Hazy, the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio, and to the U.S. Naval Museum in Pensacola, Fla.
