FARGO, ND – The Fargo Air Museum is set to receive two new aircraft for display throughout the winter. While both are World War II-era aircraft, the Boeing-Stearman N2S-3 trainer and 1942 Interstate Cadet highlight different parts of aviation history, the latter being represented in over 400 airshows across the United States as one of Kent Pietsch’s “Jelly Belly” airshow aircraft.
The Stearman landed at the museum in November 2024 and will remain on display on temporary loan until April 2025. It was assigned to Naval Air Station Minneapolis during World War II, at the same time the late former President George H.W. Bush was in flight training.
The Jelly Belly Interstate Cadet also arrived in November in true airshow style. Upon its arrival, airshow performer Kent Pietsch performed one of his signature acts, landing the Jelly Belly aircraft atop a Jelly Belly truck. Later, Pietsch sat down with Max Sabin, the museum’s collections manager, for a public interview about his flying career, followed by an open Q&A session.
The Fargo Air Museum was founded with the nonprofit mission of promoting aviation through education, preservation, and restoration. Located on 19th Avenue North just east of Interstate 29, the Fargo Air Museum is home to aircraft of all eras. Visit www.fargoairmuseum.org for additional information.
