The Minnesota Aviation Trades Association (MATA) held its annual meeting, April 24, 2025, in conjunction with the Minnesota Airports Conference at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center in Mankato, Minnesota.
Featured topics included a presentation by Minnesota Aeronautics Director Ryan Gaug, and the announcement of MATA’s Scholarship recipients.
MATA Board Member, Mark Schwichtenberg of St. Cloud Aviation, announced the people receiving MATA Scholarships, among the 18 flight and six aircraft maintenance applicants. Each applicant was required to submit an essay describing their background and career goals.
Selected were Mandi Soderholm, who is working on her Commercial Pilot Certificate at either Northpoint or Lakes Area Aviation; Colton Ramsey, who is working on his Instrument Rating at Hawk Aviation in Rush City, Minn.; and
Joe Rogal, a second-year student at Northland Community and Technical College.

Only MATA-member flight schools are eligible to provide flight training. Aircraft technician scholarship recipients may attend any accredited maintenance school, or a MATA-member apprenticeship program.
